US officials are restricting Ukraine from striking strategic points within Russian territory using long-range missiles and artillery through the Pentagon. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the Wall Street Journal, over the past months, the American government has not allowed the Ukrainian armed forces to carry out deep strikes into Russia's internal territories. This decision was made to narrow Ukraine's military capabilities and to encourage the Kremlin leadership to engage in peace negotiations.
The Pentagon believes that the use of long-range weapons could lead to an escalation of the conflict. Therefore, the US is practically vetoing such actions by Kyiv.
The Ukrainian leadership, however, states that these restrictions negatively affect the country's defense. The opportunity to gain an advantage on the front by striking military infrastructure and supply routes deep within Russia is being reduced.
The White House is taking a cautious approach on this matter, trying to prevent further escalation of the conflict. Officials emphasize that Washington aims to limit the war and create favorable conditions for potential negotiations with Moscow.
Through this policy, efforts continue to find a path to peace between the parties.
