A serious incident has occurred again in the border area between North and South Korea. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the Yonhap agency citing information from the UN Command, on August 19, about 30 North Korean military personnel crossed the demarcation line. A day earlier, the Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea announced that border troops fired warning shots in response to such an incident.
The General Staff of the DPRK, in turn, stated that construction work is being carried out near the border. Pyongyang linked this incident to the joint military exercises of South Korea and the United States, accusing Seoul of disrupting the balance of power in the region.
In recent months, relations between the two countries have remained tense. South Korea recently announced the removal of loudspeakers used for propaganda against the North.
However, this step did not create the expected warmth, and tensions in bilateral relations persisted. Experts emphasize that such incidents occurring at the border indicate further complications in regional security and stability issues.
The international community and observers are closely watching what the next move will be.
