Ukrainian officials have appealed to the international community following large-scale attacks on Kyiv city and other regions. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The country has sent an official request to convene an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council. Several international media outlets reported this based on their sources.
According to information, the date of the meeting has not yet been determined. The request is based on Articles 34 and 35 of the UN Charter.
Article 34 grants the Security Council the right to investigate situations that may threaten international peace and security. Article 35 allows any UN member state to bring a problematic situation to the Security Council or the General Assembly for discussion.
The agenda of the meeting is planned to be dedicated to the topic "Ensuring peace and security in Ukraine." At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that on the night of August 28, it carried out long-range precise strikes and attacks using attack drones on military-industrial facilities and military air bases in Ukraine.
In response, the Ukrainian government stated that residential areas in Kyiv city were also hit. According to official data, 19 civilians were killed as a result of this attack.
This event has caused great concern in the international community. Ukraine is asking the UN to take a more active role in ensuring global security and peace.
Therefore, intense discussions on the situation in Ukraine are expected to take place soon at the UN Security Council.
