Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke about the future of the United Nations and its reform at the SCO plus summit. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He emphasized the necessity of supporting the UN as a universal and independent institution in today’s complex geopolitical environment. According to the President, the issue of reforming the Security Council, which is the main structure of the UN, should remain on the agenda.
Tokayev stated that although this process is complicated, there is no alternative. He stressed that if the current generation of leaders shirks this responsibility, the trust of all world countries in the UN will weaken.
Additionally, the Kazakh leader highly appreciated the Global Governance Initiative proposed by China. According to him, this initiative includes long-term development plans of the international community and strengthens joint efforts to create a just and sustainable world order.
Tokayev’s statement once again demonstrated the importance of international cooperation and reforms in addressing global challenges.
