Mirror solar power plant launched in China

The world's first mirror solar power plant was officially launched in Gansu province. This plant has approximately 30,000 large mirrors that direct sunlight to a special tower 200 meters high.

In the tower, the sunlight with high temperature heats a salt solution. The heated salt solution produces steam, which is used to rotate turbines.

The plant's production capacity is about 1.8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year. This amount is sufficient to meet the electricity needs of nearly 170,000 households.
