US President Donald Trump announced that if dialogue and cooperation with Russian President Vladimir Putin to stop the war in Ukraine do not continue, Washington may take new measures against Moscow. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This statement was made on September 3 after a meeting in the Oval Office with Polish President Karol Nawrocki. An excerpt from the president's speech was published on the official social media page of the White House.
According to Trump, Putin is well aware of his position and ultimately has to make a decision. Regardless of what the decision is, it can be accepted or rejected.
If rejected, the consequences will become apparent soon. At the same time, no specific demands or appeals have been sent to Russia yet.
One of the press representatives asked Trump whether strict measures against Moscow would not be taken during his presidency. Trump replied that secondary sanctions imposed against India are not being considered.
According to him, these sanctions have caused Russia hundreds of billions of dollars in damage. The president emphasized that he has not yet applied the second and third phase measures.
Earlier, Trump had stated that the Russian leader was distracted but did not disclose the reason for this dissatisfaction. He also mentioned at a White House briefing that if there is no progress in the conflict in Ukraine, the US might choose a different direction.
The president stressed that he is closely monitoring the developments and may announce interesting information about the conflict in Ukraine in the coming days.
