On Wednesday evening, one of the trams lost speed, moved downhill, and crashed into a building at a turn. According to official information, at least 16 people died in this accident, and more than 20 passengers were injured.
According to witnesses, the tram suddenly went out of control and moved downhill without stopping. A loud explosion-like sound was heard at the scene, and black smoke rose.
People were screaming and rushing to help. The situation was very frightening.
Passengers in the lower carriage were also at great risk. Local residents and witnesses actively assisted rescue operations until the ambulance arrived.
The police and fire brigades quickly arrived at the scene and provided aid to the victims. The government declared a national day of mourning in memory of the victims.
