An 80-year-old retired woman in Japan lost a large sum of money after trusting a fake “astronaut.” This was reported by Zamin.uz.
She regularly communicated with a person who introduced himself as a real astronaut through social networks. Over time, the man told her that he was facing difficulties at work and needed urgent assistance.
The fake astronaut claimed to be in space on an airplane and emphasized the necessity of buying oxygen after an attack. The caring woman trusted him and transferred $6,700 to another account as financial aid.
Although the funds were said to be spent on purchasing oxygen, they actually ended up in the hands of the fraudster. According to information, during the communication, the woman felt lonely and developed personal feelings.
For this reason, no one was able to warn her in time. This case once again highlights the need to communicate cautiously with fake individuals.
It is important to think carefully and verify before trusting any unfamiliar person. Especially when financial assistance is requested, caution is required.
This incident serves as an important lesson to prevent fraud on social networks.
