The number of people dying from hunger and malnutrition in the Gaza Strip is increasing day by day. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, five more Palestinians died of hunger in the last 24 hours. Official figures show that since October 7, 2023, 404 people have died due to starvation and food shortages.
Among them are 141 children, which highlights how severe the situation is. On August 22, 2024, the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) announced that the level of hunger in Gaza had risen to the highest, phase 5.
Since then, another 126 people, including 26 children, have died of hunger. The strict blockade imposed by Israel, border closures, and ongoing military attacks have led to a sharp increase in shortages of food, drinking water, and medicine in the region.
International organizations and human rights defenders accuse Israel of using hunger and thirst as weapons. This situation further exacerbates the severity of the conditions in the region.
