Russia and Belarus began joint military exercises named "Zapad-2025" on Friday. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
These exercises are being held on the territories of both countries, as well as in the Baltic and Barents Seas. During the exercises, various scenarios for repelling attacks and defending territory will be tested.
Alongside Russia and Belarus, troops from other partner countries are also participating. These military exercises started two days after a drone, suspected to belong to Russia, was shot down in Polish airspace.
Moscow stated it had no connection to the incident, while the West described it as a provocation. The Polish Prime Minister considered the exercises dangerous and decided to close the border area with Belarus.
At the same time, Lithuania and Latvia are also strengthening additional security measures at their borders. These events could have a serious impact on the security and political situation in the region.
