Trump Could Not Convince Putin to Stop the War
Former US President Donald Trump has expressed his fading confidence that Russian President Vladimir Putin can be forced to stop the war in Ukraine. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

Western media outlets are reporting on this. Although Trump made big promises to stop the war in recent months, he now realizes that persuading Putin to take the path of peace through negotiations is not easy.

According to Axios, Trump admitted to his advisers that he had misjudged Putin's willingness to negotiate. He also emphasized that if the war does not stop, tough measures will be taken against Russia.

Recently, Trump announced on his social media page that the US is ready to impose strong sanctions against Russia. However, he stated that for such measures to be effective, NATO countries must also stop buying Russian oil.

In his opinion, the war did not start during Trump's presidency but is being continued by Biden and Zelensky. Trump stressed that he is trying to stop the war and save thousands of lives.

If NATO takes firm measures similar to those of the US, the war will end quickly; otherwise, time and resources will be wasted. On September 14, in an interview with journalists, Trump called on European countries to stop buying oil from Russia.

He said the imposed sanctions are not strong enough and emphasized that NATO countries need to strengthen their measures. Before the presidential election, Trump promised to quickly end the Russia-Ukraine war.

As the head of the White House, he communicated with Putin several times by phone. On August 15 of this year, they met in Alaska and held negotiations for nearly three hours.

However, no practical results came from this meeting, and even a temporary agreement to stop the war was not reached. Trump evaluated the negotiations positively and gave the meeting a full score on a 10-point scale in an interview with Fox News.

But many analysts assessed the Alaska summit as a defeat for the White House and a victory for the Kremlin. Trump's warnings such as "Putin has gone crazy" and "I am fed up with Putin" reportedly did not affect the Russian leader.
