The United States and its close allies have introduced the PURL program as a new direction for providing military aid to Ukraine. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Within this program, the first aid package includes missile stocks for the Patriot air defense system and HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this during a joint press conference in Kyiv with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola.
According to Zelensky, Kyiv has received over 2 billion dollars so far through the PURL program. Additional funding is planned for October, with the total aid expected to reach 3 to 3.5 billion dollars.
It was emphasized that the initial two packages are each worth 500 million dollars. This program represents a new mechanism for Kyiv.
The United States and its partners enable the delivery of American weapons and ammunition to Ukraine in accordance with the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL). Additionally, according to a Reuters report on September 16, the Donald Trump administration approved the first two aid packages to be sent to Kyiv, which are expected to be delivered soon.
This initiative not only provides Ukraine with new financial resources but also creates opportunities to supply important strategic weapons. This serves to further strengthen military cooperation between Kyiv and its allies.
