He emphasized that the 50 percent tariffs imposed by Trump on Brazilian products were a decision made for political purposes. He noted that these tariffs would cause an increase in prices of products for American consumers.
Lula also said that he has never communicated directly with Trump. He mentioned that he learned about the tariffs through the media.
He criticized Trump for announcing such important decisions not through diplomatic channels but via social media. The Brazilian president also shared his views on former president Jair Bolsonaro.
He reminded that Bolsonaro attempted a coup in the country and was sentenced to 27 years by the court. Lula criticized Trump for defending Bolsonaro.
Additionally, Lula emphasized the necessity of reforms at the UN. He stated that the five permanent members of the UN have excessive power.
While expressing his intention to continue cooperation with Russia and China, he clearly stated that he does not support the war in Ukraine.
