The demographic situation in Russia has undergone significant changes in recent years. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the results of a study conducted by the Civixplorer company, the proportion of men in the country's population has significantly decreased. According to the 2024 report, 63 percent of Russia's population are women, while only 37 percent are men.
Experts point to the ongoing war with Ukraine since 2022 and the losses incurred there as the main reason for this situation. The study also noted that in other countries, the share of women is higher than that of men.
For example, women make up 52.7 percent in the USA, 53.3 percent in Brazil, 53.8 percent in Bangladesh, 54.4 percent in Mexico, 55.5 percent in Japan, 52.3 percent in Germany, and 55 percent in Thailand. In Russia, among the pension-age population, the number of women is almost twice that of men.
According to data from the social fund, a total of 41,169,800 pensioners live in the country. Of these, 13,845,500 are men, and 27,324,300 are women.
Officials emphasize that such an imbalance in the population composition not only negatively affects demographic balance but can also cause serious problems in economic development, the labor market, and social policy sectors. The disruption of demographic balance increases the risk of Russia facing even greater social challenges in the future.
Therefore, comprehensive measures are necessary to improve the demographic situation in the country.
