Water crisis in Gaza endangers human life
Today, water is considered the most valuable natural resource, and in Gaza, human lives are being sacrificed for a glass of water. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

The wife of the President of Turkey and Chairperson of the UN High-Level Advisory Board on “Zero Waste,” Emine Erdoğan, expressed her views on this important issue at the “Zero Waste – Drop by Drop” exhibition organized by the Turkish Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change in New York City. Erdoğan emphasized that humanity is currently living in a complex and difficult era where water is being used as a weapon of genocide.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been deliberately destroying Gaza’s water infrastructure during its military attacks. As a result, 85 percent of water pipes, treatment plants, wells, and other infrastructure are non-functional.

Palestinians are forced to walk long distances on foot to meet their daily water needs. Sometimes, they are killed by rocket strikes while waiting in line.

Small children struggle to carry heavier water containers, which is a severe blow to human conscience. People are forced to drink unsafe water.

In Gaza, moral, legal, and humanitarian standards have almost disappeared. Children have reached a situation where they cannot ask, “Mother, what will we eat for dinner?”

A state that has lost its moral compass has started a battle against human conscience. Humanity must not be defeated in this struggle, said the First Lady of Turkey.

Emine Erdoğan stressed that water and bread should not be used as weapons and that international law and universal human values must be respected. She expressed hope for a just and sustainable world.

According to her, this is an important step in protecting human rights and values and holds great significance on the path to global justice.
