A 17-year-old Uzbek citizen, S.S., died as a result of a traffic accident that occurred in Turkey. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

The accident, which took place in Istanbul, spread widely on social networks and caused deep sorrow among our compatriots.

The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul issued an official statement regarding this incident. It was reported that S.S.

sustained severe injuries in the traffic accident that happened on April 5, 2025, and was hospitalized. Doctors tried to save his life for several days, but he passed away on April 15.

The deceased's body was buried on April 17 in the Samarkand region. According to additional information about the incident, the Turkish citizen who caused the traffic accident fled the scene but surrendered to the police a day later expressing remorse.

During the investigation, it was found that he had drugs in his system. He has not been detained yet, and the court hearing is scheduled for October 2, 2025.

According to the consulate's report, the deceased's family members did not contact the consulate at the time of the incident. Currently, the diplomatic mission is providing them with the necessary consular and legal assistance.

Reports circulating on social networks also state that S.S. was hit by a car while bringing flowers to his mother on his birthday.

This information has caused even greater distress among our compatriots. Experts emphasize that this incident highlights not only road safety issues but also the urgent need to protect the lives and rights of our compatriots living abroad.

State authorities and the public need to strengthen measures to address this problem.
