According to the El Pais publication, the Spanish government has banned the transfer of weapons to Israel via US ships and aircraft passing through military bases in the country. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Official information indicates that this ban applies to the bases in Rota (Cádiz province) and Morón de la Frontera (Seville province). According to the new decision, the ban applies not only to ships and aircraft heading directly to Israel but also to military transports making intermediate stops in other countries with Israel as their final destination.
At the same time, Spain currently does not inspect US military aircraft and ships when they stop on its territory. Analysts believe that the Pentagon may not disclose the cargo contents, which could lead to a weakening of trust among allies.
Recently, due to the situation in the Gaza region, Spain has been pursuing a tougher policy towards Israel. The government has already stopped supplying arms to Israel.
Currently, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez is proposing new measures. These include imposing a full embargo on arms deliveries, banning entry into the country for Israeli officials suspected of war crimes, canceling military cooperation, and expanding humanitarian aid to Palestinians.
These measures aim to further toughen Spain's policy towards Israel.
