Political disputes over the temporary funding of the federal government in the US have intensified. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has advised federal agencies to prepare for the possibility of a government shutdown. OMB Director Russell Vought made a statement on social media on September 30.
According to Vought, government agencies should begin working on their orderly shutdown plans. He called on federal agencies to closely monitor the situation and follow the guidance provided by the OMB.
He also emphasized that it is difficult to say how long the Democrats will maintain their positions. The US Senate failed to approve either of the two bills necessary to continue government operations.
Each bill required at least 60 votes. Although the bill proposed by the Republican Party was passed in the House of Representatives, it did not receive sufficient support in the Senate.
The Democrats also put forward their bills but failed to gather the required votes. Experts believe that the main cause of the disagreements is related to healthcare spending issues.
Both parties remain firm in their positions on this matter, and it currently seems unlikely that an agreement will be reached. According to information, the temporary government shutdown, or shutdown, could begin at midnight local time on the night of September 30 to October 1.
This situation may lead to a complete or partial halt in service processes within federal agencies.
