New restrictions have been introduced on personal electric vehicles in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the decision of the City People's Deputies Council, the use of electric scooters, electric scooters, and similar vehicles will be temporarily banned until 2030. This was reported by local mass media.
According to official information, this decision was made to ensure road safety, protect pedestrians, and prevent disorderly movements. It was noted that in recent years, the number of road traffic accidents involving electric scooters has increased significantly, posing a serious danger not only to drivers but also to pedestrians.
Local authorities emphasized that the restriction is temporary and will be reviewed once the safety infrastructure — including dedicated lanes, signs, and systems ensuring traffic rules — is fully implemented. Until then, the use of electric scooters will only be permitted in specially designated areas.
The city administration appealed to the public, especially parents, to prevent minors from using such vehicles. They stressed that electric scooters are often operated by young people who do not know traffic rules, which is one of the main causes of these incidents.
Experts believe that electric scooters and scooters are environmentally friendly means of transport. However, moving without appropriate infrastructure poses a significant risk to personal safety.
Experts emphasize that this restriction in Dushanbe will not only ensure safety but also serve as an important basis for the future legal and technical regulation of personal electric vehicles. Thus, this decision adopted in the capital of Tajikistan is regarded as an important step towards increasing pedestrian safety, improving traffic order, and creating suitable conditions for ecological transport.
