Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the nuclear arms race in the world has already begun. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He expressed this opinion at a press conference held at the end of his working visit to Tajikistan on October 10. According to Putin, various countries are actively working in the field of nuclear weapons and are developing new generation weapons.
The Russian leader said that the newly announced weapons are currently undergoing tests and their results are promising. He also stated that if the United States does not extend the strategic offensive arms treaty, it will not affect Russia's nuclear potential.
According to him, Russia's nuclear force is currently maintained at the highest level in the world. In September, at a meeting of the Russian Security Council, Moscow expressed its readiness to extend the US bilateral treaty for another year.
At the same time, Putin emphasized that the expiration of the international agreement limiting nuclear weapons would lead to its loss of effectiveness. Later, US President Donald Trump called Putin's proposal a good idea during a meeting with journalists at the White House but did not provide additional information on the matter.
Thus, discussions about nuclear weapons remain a pressing topic in global politics, and every country is trying to take concrete measures to ensure its security.
