The United States has begun implementing a project to build a modern “smart wall” along the border with Mexico. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Within the framework of this project, $4.5 billion has been allocated, and ten contracts have been signed for construction work. This information was provided by the Newsmax TV channel.
The agreements are being carried out from September 15 to 30 under the law called “One Big Beautiful Bill.” According to the plan, a 370-kilometer-long wall and 640 kilometers of technological infrastructure will be constructed.
The “Smart Wall” system, unlike traditional barriers, will be equipped with steel structures, patrol roads, lighting equipment, cameras, and sensors. This technology allows real-time monitoring of illegal border crossings.
According to a statement from the Customs and Border Protection service, the project is an important step toward achieving the United States’ goals of strengthening border security. Additionally, Donald Trump expressed his intention during his inauguration to stop illegal entry into the US and reduce the flow of migrants, and he declared a state of emergency at the southern border.
Experts believe that the new “smart wall,” combining physical barriers with digital monitoring, will significantly help reduce migration and smuggling incidents. This project plays a crucial role in enhancing border security and preventing illegal activities.
