A huge diamond weighing 340 carats was mined in the Arkhangelsk region. Experts have ranked this stone among the five largest diamonds ever found in modern Russian history.
According to information, the stone measures 50x39.4x24.8 millimeters and is one of the largest natural crystals found during industrial-scale mining operations. Company data states that this unique stone is very pure and has a high degree of transparency, and its crystal structure is very stable.
Experts have classified this crystal as a rare diamond, with such stones making up only two percent of natural diamonds. The unique stone was found at the Vladimir Grib mine, where diamond mining has been ongoing since 2013.
This mine is considered one of Russia's largest industrial facilities and ranks first in the country in terms of annual extraction volume. According to historical data, the largest diamond ever found in the world is called the "Cullinan."
It was discovered on January 25, 1905, in South Africa and weighs 3,106 carats. Later, this stone became famous under the name "Star of Africa."
