In Konchi village of Gaya district in Bihar state, India, 74-year-old former soldier Mohan Lal held his funeral ceremony while still alive. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He stated that with this act, he aimed to see how people react to death and who truly mourns sincerely. Mohan Lal laid himself in a coffin as a deceased person and conducted the ceremony through the village streets following traditional funeral customs.
During the event, mourning songs were played and all funeral rituals were fully observed. Mohan Lal organized the event himself and invited the entire village population.
As people cried and mourned, he suddenly rose from the coffin, surprising the participants. Afterwards, a symbolic statue was lit, and a large feast was held.
According to him, people carry the coffin after death, but he wanted to feel the respect and affection of his people while still alive. The villagers respect Mohan Lal because he built a modern crematorium to ease funeral problems during the rainy season.
Because of this, he is considered a conscientious and people-loving person. Indian media explained his act as a result of a lack of attention and affection towards him.
This event caused a great stir in the village, and many regarded it as an incident that makes one reflect on life and death. Mohan Lal is still leading an active life and humorously calls himself “once dead, now truly alive.”
