According to the “Knews” publication, Stavros Dimostenus, president of the “Karmiotissa” football club, was shot dead by an unknown person on the Limassol highway. Initial information indicates that the attacker was riding a motorcycle and fired several shots at the car driven by Dimostenus.

The incident happened very quickly, so the local residents were unable to intervene. Police forces arrived at the scene immediately, and the highway was temporarily closed.

Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance footage and taking statements from witnesses. Law enforcement agencies confirmed that the murder was intentional and launched a special operation to search for the criminal.

Stavros Dimostenus was a well-known figure in Cypriot football and had made a significant contribution to the financial recovery of the “Karmiotissa” club in recent years. Local media speculate that economic or personal conflicts may lie behind his death.
