A strong magnetic storm is expected on Earth due to a giant hole on the Sun
A significant change in Earth's magnetosphere is expected in the coming days due to a large coronal hole that has formed on the Sun. This was reported by specialists from the Institute of Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences and experts in solar-terrestrial physics.

When will the activity begin?

According to specialists, the stability of the geomagnetic background on Earth will be maintained until April 21. However, on Monday, April 22, the activity will sharply increase in the evening.

It is expected that a strong magnetic storm will begin to enter Earth's atmosphere from that time. Scientists estimate the probability of such activity to be up to 80 percent.

On which days will it be the most intense?

The peak of magnetic storms is expected to occur on April 23 and 24. During this time, strong geomagnetic shocks at G2 level may be observed. It is only expected that the magnetic field will return to a stable state between April 25 and 29.

The storm may last approximately two days. Its first signs will be observed after 14:00 on April 21. Strong geophysical effects are expected to persist on April 22 and 23, and may only calm down after 21:00 on April 24.

At the same time, scientists are urging caution: coronal holes can sometimes lead to unexpected additional storms, and their duration may be longer than anticipated.

How to protect yourself during a magnetic storm?

Medical specialists recommend the following during such days:

  • Maintain a regular sleep schedule, getting enough sleep in a bright and calm environment;
  • Avoid alcoholic beverages and fatty foods;
  • Drink plenty of water throughout the day — this ensures the stable functioning of the body;
  • Take walks outdoors, keeping the body active with light physical activity;
  • If necessary, take medications that support the cardiovascular system as advised by a doctor.

Additionally, it is very important to avoid excessive strain on the nervous system and reduce stress.

This is not the first time

It is worth noting that last week, strong geomagnetic shocks also affected Earth's magnetosphere, leading to headaches, irritability, insomnia, and general fatigue in some individuals.

Do you feel such magnetic storms? How does your body react? Share your examples in the comments!
