An important meeting took place at the White House in Washington between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
During the meeting, the main topics discussed were the war in Ukraine, arms issues, and new directions for cooperation between the two countries. In a statement to the press, Trump addressed the issue of delivering Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine, expressing hope that there would be no need to use such powerful weapons.
He emphasized that he is trying to simplify the process and that the war can be ended without Tomahawks. Zelensky, on the other hand, called modern warfare a technological conflict and said that the country needs more drones.
According to him, Ukraine requires not only weapons but also new technologies. Therefore, he proposed joint drone production with the United States.
Trump received this proposal positively and noted that the US has a strong interest in drone technologies. In his opinion, drones can be a fast and effective means to end the war.
He stated that he prefers drones over Tomahawk missiles. President Trump also said that Russian leader Vladimir Putin wants the war to end and announced that the meeting in Budapest will likely take place without Zelensky.
Earlier, Trump had indicated that if negotiations with Russia fail, missiles might be delivered to Ukraine. Moscow, however, is firmly opposed to providing Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.
Vladimir Putin emphasized that these weapons would not fundamentally change the situation on the battlefield but would negatively affect US-Russia relations. After the meeting, delegations from both countries continued negotiations to expand bilateral cooperation and economic ties.
This meeting was regarded as an important step aimed at strengthening cooperation in political and economic spheres.
