In the coming days, a new metro station named “Saint Mary” will be launched in Tehran, the capital of Iran. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The “RIA Novosti” news agency reported this. The new station will be called “Maryam-e Mogaddas” and is located on Nejotollahi Street in the city center.
It was built near the Saint Sarkis Armenian Apostolic Church. This station is dedicated to the mother of Prophet Jesus, Lady Mary.
The government of the Islamic Republic of Iran aims to show respect to the Christian minority in the country through the station’s name and interior decorations. According to the project designer Tanya Tarigmehr, seven thematic panels depicting the life of Lady Mary and sacred themes from Christianity have been installed on the station walls.
At the metro entrance, six verses from the “Maryam” chapter of the Holy Quran are inscribed, symbolizing tolerance between Islam and Christianity. On social media, users appreciate the opening of the new station as a symbol of cultural dialogue and mutual respect among followers of different religions.
According to information, construction and decoration work at the station has been fully completed, and preparations are currently underway for the official opening ceremony. The station will start accepting passengers soon.
This metro station will serve to further develop the city’s public transport system and help strengthen religious tolerance and cultural cooperation.
