Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has announced his readiness to participate in the expected meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to NBC News, Zelenskiy responded affirmatively to a journalist's question, "Are you ready to participate in the summit?" He emphasized that he had informed the US President about this at the White House meeting and is ready to participate in any format.
Zelenskiy noted that a genuine peace agreement is impossible without Ukraine. According to him, the participation of both sides is necessary for a just and sustainable peace.
In response to the question, "What kind of agreement can there be without us?" the president gave a clear answer. When asked if it is possible to give up part of Ukraine's territory to stop the war with Russia, Zelenskiy gave a firm refusal.
He stressed that if we want to stop the war immediately, we must stay on our territory and that no territory or privileges will be given to Putin. Also, while talking about the situation on the front, the Ukrainian leader stated that Ukraine is not losing the war, but Russia is also not winning.
He said that in recent weeks Moscow has intensified air strikes against civilians. According to Zelenskiy, Putin is increasing air strikes to create an energy crisis in Ukraine during the winter season.
According to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Washington supports Zelenskiy's participation in the Budapest meeting. On October 17, Trump held a meeting with Zelenskiy in Washington.
The US president said that the Ukrainian leader might not come to the summit, but they remain in constant contact. As a result, diplomatic activity between Kyiv and Washington is increasing.
Zelenskiy's readiness for peace negotiations is considered an important step toward resolving the conflict through political means.
