Lavrov and Rubio discussed peace in Ukraine
On October 20, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a telephone conversation. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

During the conversation, the parties discussed resolving the conflict in Ukraine through peaceful means. According to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, they discussed concrete steps to implement the directions agreed upon during the telephone conversation between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump on October 16.

Lavrov and Rubio emphasized the importance of carrying out this process through joint diplomatic efforts. According to the U.S. State Department, Marco Rubio assessed the dialogue between Moscow and Washington as an important diplomatic opportunity to achieve a stable resolution of the war in Ukraine.

The Secretary of State stated that the upcoming negotiations will provide an opportunity for Russia and the U.S. to cooperate in finding a long-term solution regarding Ukraine. This will also help advance the peace process in line with President Trump's views.

It is worth recalling that on October 16, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump spoke by phone, discussing the situation around Ukraine and agreeing to seek diplomatic solutions. At the end of the conversation, it was announced that U.S. President Donald Trump plans to meet with Putin in person soon in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.

According to Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, the initiative for the meeting in Budapest was proposed by Trump and supported by Putin. Local analysts believe that the dialogue between Lavrov and Rubio may mark a new phase in the negotiation process between Moscow and Washington.

This conversation indicates an increase in political activity regarding Ukraine.
