An unexpected and severe tragedy occurred in South Korea. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
A woman started a fire in her home while using a flammable spray to eliminate cockroaches. The incident took place on October 20 in the city of Osan.
Although the woman had used this method before, this time the event resulted in serious consequences. The fire spread rapidly, engulfing the entire apartment.
The police announced that a criminal case may be opened against the woman for "reckless fire-setting" and "causing death by negligence." During the fire, her neighbor, a Chinese woman around 30 years old, tried to escape from her apartment on the fifth floor and fell while attempting to climb out of the window, resulting in her death.
Her husband and their two-month-old baby were at home. The couple noticed the fire, managed to pass the baby to a neighboring apartment, and succeeded in saving the child.
The husband managed to get to the neighboring building but could not save his wife. According to local sources, many people were unable to escape due to the thick smoke covering the staircases during the fire.
There were shops on the lower floors of the building, and more than 30 apartments on the upper floors. As a result of the fire, eight people were hospitalized with varying degrees of poisoning.
Researchers warn that in recent years, methods of fighting cockroaches with fire have become popular on the internet and social networks. Such methods can cause dangerous explosions and fires in enclosed spaces.
A similar case was recorded in Australia in 2018, where a man tried to burn cockroaches using a spray, resulting in the complete destruction of the kitchen by fire. Authorities urge citizens to abandon such dangerous methods and use safe, simple means to eliminate cockroaches.
Because negligence can cause serious harm not only to property but also to human life. Every person must prioritize their own safety.
