At least twenty people died as a result of a passenger bus fire in the Indian state of Rajasthan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The incident occurred near the village of Tayyat on the Jaisalmer–Jodhpur road. There were approximately fifty passengers on the bus.
Shortly after departure, smoke began to rise from the rear of the vehicle, and within a few minutes, the entire cabin was engulfed in flames. According to witnesses, the fire spread so rapidly that passengers were unable to escape from the bus.
In particular, those seated at the rear could not reach the exit doors. Investigators believe, based on preliminary examinations, that the fire was caused by a short circuit in the air conditioning system.
According to the Rajasthan government, DNA tests are being initiated to identify the deceased. State Chief Minister Shobha Singh expressed condolences to the families of the victims and ordered the formation of a special commission to re-examine the safety of all passenger buses.
The local press has described this incident as one of the deadliest transport fires in the country. The event has once again highlighted the urgent issue of improving transport safety and preparedness for emergencies in social life.
