Peace treaty signed between Thailand and Cambodia
Military conflicts that lasted for several months in Southeast Asia have ended. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

Thailand's Prime Minister Anutin Chanvirakun and Cambodian government leader Hun Manet signed a peace treaty in the presence of U.S. President Donald Trump. This was reported by the Thmey Thmey publication.

The signing ceremony took place in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. It was organized within the framework of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations – ASEAN summit.

This agreement aims to restore stability in the region and put an end to the long-standing disputes between the two neighboring countries. U.S. President Donald Trump called the peace agreement an important step towards stability in Southeast Asia in his speech.

He also announced the release of 18 military prisoners held in Cambodia. Trump emphasized the necessity of international oversight to ensure lasting peace and announced the deployment of special observers from Malaysia and other Asian countries.

The border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia escalated sharply in May 2025. During several weeks of armed clashes, both sides used artillery and air strikes, resulting in casualties among civilians as well.

By July, due to the intensification of military actions, the international community saw the need for intervention. Following negotiations mediated by the U.S., China, and Malaysia, the parties agreed first to a ceasefire and then to sign a full peace treaty.

According to analysts, this agreement is of great importance not only for the two countries but also for the geopolitical stability of the entire region. This agreement marks a new era in developing economic cooperation and strengthening border security.
