A 29-year-old Uzbek student was arrested in South Korea. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the Chosun publication, this individual collected funds under the name of a charity project established to build wells in Africa, and transferred part of the money to groups associated with HAMAS and Al-Qaeda. The suspect created fake pages on social networks, spreading extremist content and calls for war.
The fundraising was carried out in two ways: through cryptocurrency and in cash via a football club organized for Uzbeks. Currently, he may face up to ten years of imprisonment and a large fine.
The investigation is ongoing, and the police are trying to determine whether there are other individuals who assisted the student, as well as where else the collected funds were directed. This case serves as a serious warning for the citizens of our country.
Law enforcement agencies emphasize their firm fight against such crimes. It is reminded that every citizen has a great responsibility in ensuring the peace and security of our society.
