
Erjan Babakumarov, former advisor to the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, died as a result of a conflict that occurred in the city of Astana. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This information was reported based on data from the Kazakhstan police. According to the investigation, a disagreement between 56-year-old Babakumarov and a 36-year-old man escalated into a fight.
During the conflict, the former official sustained severe injuries and it was impossible to save his life. A criminal case has been initiated against the suspect in this incident, who is currently held in temporary detention.
It is reported that after Kassym-Jomart Tokayev assumed the presidency in 2019, he appointed Erjan Babakumarov as his advisor. However, after a few months, Babakumarov left this position.
Additionally, from April 2019 to February 2022, he served as the deputy mayor of Almaty city. After the events of January 2022, he resigned.
