A tragic incident occurred on Australia's Lizard Island. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The Coral Adventurer cruise ship left one of its passengers behind on the island. According to Deutsche Welle, the body of the 80-year-old woman was later found.
It is reported that the trip lasted 60 days, and the ticket cost approximately 50 thousand dollars. Tourists engaged in hiking on the island and snorkeling.
However, the elderly woman had difficulty climbing to a high place and fell behind the group. Since she was traveling alone, her disappearance was not noticed at first.
The ship left the island at sunset. It was only during dinner that the woman's absence was noticed.
After that, the ship turned back and search operations began. A helicopter was also involved in the search, but unfortunately, the woman's body was found.
The police assessed the incident as a "sudden and undoubted death." The Australian Maritime Safety Authority is investigating the incident.
The crew of the Coral Adventurer ship will be questioned about the causes of the incident and the delay in the search. The company’s head, Mark Fairfield, expressed condolences to the woman’s relatives and emphasized that he is deeply saddened by this tragedy.
It is also known that there was no doctor or nurse on board the ship. The Coral Adventurer is designed for 120 passengers and 46 crew members and was used to organize special trips along the Australian coast.
