US President Donald Trump has decided to resume nuclear weapons testing in the country after 30 years. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He explained this decision by the fact that countries like Russia and China continue to conduct nuclear weapons tests. According to Trump, this measure is necessary to maintain the US defense capability and not fall behind competitors.
The president announced his statement on social media, emphasizing, “While other countries are conducting nuclear tests, we will also start tests on an equal footing.” This statement was made ahead of a meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in South Korea.
It is known that the US last conducted a nuclear weapons test in Nevada in 1992. Trump's decision marks a new stage in US nuclear policy.
The test site in Nevada has remained under government control to this day. According to experts, if necessary, this area can be prepared again for tests.
Trump specifically emphasized the need to start this process as soon as possible.
