Russian opera singer Eldor Abdurazzoqov was expected to participate in the opera "Don Juan" taking place in Italy. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The performance was scheduled to be held on the stage of the Philharmonic Theater in Verona. However, the theater administration announced that all of the singer's appearances planned for January 2026 have been canceled.
The exact reasons for the decision have not been disclosed. Eldor Abdurazzoqov was supposed to play the lead role of Don Juan in this opera.
So far, there is no information about who will replace him. This event is also widely discussed in political circles in Europe.
In particular, Vice-President of the European Parliament Pina Picierno evaluated this decision as a step against Kremlin propaganda. At the same time, several organizations have expressed their opposition to Abdurazzoqov's performances.
For instance, the Liberi Oltre le Illusioni organization emphasized that the singer participated as a trusted figure of Vladimir Putin in the Russian presidential elections. The Anti-Corruption Foundation noted that he owns property in Europe and openly supports Kremlin policies.
This is not the first time Eldor Abdurazzoqov's foreign performances have been canceled. In 2023, he was also excluded from cooperation with several prestigious theaters and concert organizations.
Cultural institutions in Europe are strengthening their political stance against individuals connected to Russia due to the war in Ukraine. Experts believe that the boundary between culture and politics is becoming increasingly blurred.
Eldor Abdurazzoqov's new opera project was canceled due to these political controversies. This indicates that political views are increasingly influencing the world of art.
