The political tension between North Korea and the United States is escalating again. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Pyongyang officials responded with a sharp statement to the new sanctions imposed by the US. This was reported by North Korea's central news agency.
The statement said that the US policy of achieving results through pressure and threats has no effect on North Korea. According to Kim In Chol, Deputy Foreign Minister of Pyongyang, "US sanctions do not affect our way of thinking or our political position.
This only demonstrates the failure of Washington's policy." Furthermore, Pyongyang called the sanctions a "foolish attempt" and announced that it will give an appropriate response to the US's hostile policy.
According to North Korea, the US pressure policy only intensifies conflict and does not yield diplomatic results. According to information, on November 4 of this year, the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on eight North Korean citizens and two legal entities accused of cybercrimes and illegal financial activities.
US officials emphasize that North Korean hackers have stolen more than three billion dollars in cryptocurrency since 2017. These cyberattacks are said to have been carried out by groups linked to North Korean intelligence.
Relations between North Korea and the US cooled after meetings between Kim Jong Un and Donald Trump in 2018–2019. At that time, both sides expressed their intention to continue negotiations, but Pyongyang later rejected dialogue.
This year, Donald Trump expressed his desire to meet Kim Jong Un during his Asia tour, but this plan did not materialize. In September, the North Korean leader called on the US not to demand that Pyongyang abandon its nuclear program.
Additionally, reports about military cooperation between North Korea and Russia are increasing. According to international analysts, Pyongyang is assisting Russia in the war in Ukraine.
According to South Korean intelligence, about 10,000 North Korean soldiers are deployed at the Russia–Ukraine border, and more troops are expected to be sent soon. While sharply rejecting Washington's attempts to gain political advantage through sanctions, North Korea announced that it will continue its independent policy.
