It has been reported that former US President Donald Trump wants a stadium to be built bearing his name. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The information was disseminated by the ESPN publication. It is known that a new stadium is planned to be built for the National Football League (NFL) team - the Washington Commanders.
This project is valued at 3.7 billion dollars. The stadium is being constructed on the site of the Robert Kennedy Stadium, where the team played their games from 1961 to 1996.
Construction work is expected to be completed, and the facility is planned to be put into use in 2030. According to sources, informal negotiations have been held between the group of investors led by the club co-owner Josh Harris and Donald Trump's team.
During these negotiations, the issue of naming the stadium after Trump was discussed. A White House representative emphasized that this is the president's personal wish and noted that the likelihood of this dream coming true is high.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt highlighted Trump's significant contribution to the construction of the new stadium and expressed that she considers it appropriate to name the stadium after him. At the same time, the official approval rights for the stadium's name remain with the district council and the federal land agency.
The Commanders team cannot make an independent decision on this matter.
