Air quality is deteriorating in several regions of Kazakhstan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the country's ecological service – “Kazgidromet”, on November 17, the amount of harmful substances in the air may exceed the norm in 11 cities. These cities include Almaty, Astana, Atyrau, Aktobe, Shymkent, Karaganda, Zhezkazgan, Temirtau, Balkhash, Ust-Kamenogorsk, and Ridder.
Experts associate this situation with weak winds, fog, and atmospheric inversion. Under such conditions, harmful gases and dust particles do not disperse in the air but accumulate close to the ground.
This makes breathing difficult and exacerbates environmental problems. The public is advised to spend less time outdoors, especially staying away from roads with heavy traffic.
Citizens with lung diseases, allergies, or cardiovascular problems are recommended to carry necessary medications with them. In recent years, Almaty, Karaganda, and Temirtau have been recorded as the most polluted air areas in the country.
The onset of the winter season and the decrease in air movement may further aggravate this problem.
