The Supreme Court in Turkey found a man guilty in a divorce process for liking other women's photos on social media. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Local publications reported on this matter. During the court hearing, the spouses H.B.
and S.B. filed opposing petitions for divorce.
According to the woman, her husband insulted her, did not provide money for financial needs, and liked other women's photos. The man, on the other hand, accused his wife of jealousy and wrote critical comments on her posts.
The Kayseri family court confirmed the divorce decision. The court found the husband primarily at fault, while also acknowledging partial fault of the wife.
By court decision, temporary alimony (500 lira), poverty allowance (750 lira), and compensation of 40,000 lira for material and moral damages were set for the spouses. However, the man appealed this decision.
The appellate court upheld the husband as the main party at fault and increased the poverty allowance to 1,000 lira per month. Additionally, the court assessed the husband's liking of other women's photos as "conduct undermining trust."
The amount of material and moral compensation was changed to 30,000 lira. This court decision was accepted as a precedent and it was emphasized that it may serve as a basis for similar cases in the future.
