A major project to build a new port in the city of Aktau, Kazakhstan, has been announced. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
For this project, the Chinese company Zhongyong International Group was selected as a strategic partner. This information was published by the “Kazakhstan Today” news agency.
The total value of the project amounts to 300 million dollars. Currently, the company is registered in Kazakhstan and is preparing the necessary documents to sign the investment agreement.
According to the regional governor Nurdaulet Kilibay, the new port will form an important international transport corridor along the China – Kazakhstan – Aktau – Baku – Poti – Europe route. Once the project is implemented, the delivery time is expected to be reduced by 7–15 days, and transport costs are expected to decrease by 18–25 percent.
Additionally, new jobs will be created within the scope of the project. Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has instructed strict control over the construction of the container center.
The Ministry of Transport will present a report on the project by the end of the first quarter of 2026. Bektenov instructed regional administrations to fully ensure access to land plots, utilities, road, and railway infrastructure.
It is reported that the largest container center in the Caspian Sea was commissioned in Aktau this summer. Also, during a meeting held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev highlighted the huge potential of the Trans-Caspian routes and proposed establishing a joint council to develop the infrastructure.
