Interior Secretary Kristi Noem informed CNN about this. According to law enforcement officials, the incident occurred as a result of a shooting with a suspect.
According to CNN, the suspect has been apprehended and taken from the scene for medical assistance. At the time of the shooting, President Donald Trump was at a golf course located in West Palm Beach, Florida.
According to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, the president was immediately informed about the incident. The capital police confirmed on social media that the area is safe and that the suspect has been detained.
At the same time, local residents were advised to stay away from the area. It should be recalled that President Trump had earlier issued an emergency order to bring National Guard members from several states under federal control.
As a result, hundreds of National Guardsmen are currently patrolling the streets of Washington.
