Statue dedicated to Messi vandalized again

The incident took place at the entrance of the "El Nuevo Mundial" cafe located in the city of Mar del Plata. Unknown individuals indifferent to cultural values damaged the statue, breaking it into two parts.
This situation caused strong outrage among the local population. The statue was dedicated to the victory of the Argentina national team at the 2022 World Cup held in Qatar.
It depicted Messi in the national team jersey, holding the World Cup trophy. The statue was created to honor Messi and the great achievements of Argentine football.
However, this statue had previously been a victim of vandalism; in 2024, its head was torn off. This incident angered not only Argentinians but also football fans.
