Fighting continues for Pokrovsk and Volchansk
Amid the military conflicts between Russia and Ukraine, conflicting information is spreading regarding control over the cities of Pokrovsk and Volchansk. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

According to the report given by Chief of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff Valery Gerasimov to President Vladimir Putin on November 30, the Russian army has taken control of the cities of Pokrovsk in Donetsk region and Volchansk in Kharkiv region. This information was officially confirmed by Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov on December 1.

The report also noted that military operations are ongoing in the southern part of Mirnograd and the city of Huliaipole. However, the Ukrainian side firmly denies these reports.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denied that Pokrovsk and Volchansk had fallen into Russian hands after a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron on December 1. Zelensky acknowledged that fighting continues in these areas and admitted the situation is complicated.

According to the Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff, 49 attacks have been carried out in the Pokrovsk direction, and fighting continues in several locations. Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Anti-Disinformation Center under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, assessed Russia's statements as disinformation spread to exert pressure on Western countries.

According to him, claims that Volchansk and Kupiansk have come under Russian control are unfounded. OSINT project maps also indicate that these areas remain under Ukrainian control.

Additionally, Ukrainian OSINT projects warn about an increase in the pace of Russian army attacks. According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), drone-assisted attacks near Pokrovsk and weather conditions are affecting the military actions of the Russian army.

Natural factors such as precipitation and fog are also influencing the situation at the front.
