British former soldier accused of espionage in Ukraine
It was reported that British citizen David Katmor was detained by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He is accused of participating in the training of Ukrainian armed forces soldiers and engaging in espionage activities for the benefit of Russian special services. This individual came to Ukraine in 2024 as an instructor, previously served in the British army, and participated in military operations in the Middle East.
According to investigation materials, David Katmor carried out espionage and sabotage activities in Ukraine. He is suspected of receiving weapons and ammunition from Russian special services to carry out political assassinations within the country.
In particular, he may have been involved in assassination plans targeting public figure Demyan Ganul, as well as prominent politicians Irina Farion and Andriy Parubiy. The assassination attempt against Irina Farion occurred on July 19, 2025, in the city of Lviv.
The former deputy who was seriously injured was hospitalized, but despite all medical efforts, it was impossible to save his life. On August 30 of the same year, it was reported that former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy was killed.
These events are being assessed as a serious situation that may indicate interference by Russian special services in Ukraine's internal affairs. The investigation is currently ongoing.
