Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared a state of emergency due to the increase in kidnapping incidents in the country. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
To prevent this problem, he ordered the recruitment of additional personnel into the armed forces and police. According to the new measures, 20,000 new officers will be admitted to the police force, increasing the total number to 50,000.
President Tinubu called for measures to enhance the security of schools located in remote areas. Additionally, it was recommended to seek extra support to ensure security in religious places, including mosques and churches.
Instructions were given to restrict herders from grazing their animals in open pastures and to surrender illegal weapons. Meanwhile, the United States accused the Nigerian government of ignoring violence committed by insurgents against Christians.
However, the Nigerian government regards this issue not as a religious but as a social problem. The country's officials aim to take all necessary measures to stabilize the situation.
