Former Prime Minister Nikolay Azarov expressed his views on the sharp rise in utility prices in Ukraine in recent years. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He emphasized that such an increase in tariffs cannot be explained by ordinary inflation. According to Azarov's calculations, since 2013, the price of gas has increased nearly 22 times, water payments 13 times, and heating supply 15 times.
In his opinion, this situation is mainly related to Ukraine's efforts to move closer to the European Union, which caused the price increases. Azarov pointed out that during this period, the dollar exchange rate rose only five times—from 8 hryvnias to 42 hryvnias—and said that such a sharp rise in tariffs cannot be explained solely by changes in currency exchange rates.
This situation has become one of the significant problems of economic policy in the country and is noticeably affecting the daily lives of the population. Therefore, this issue is being widely discussed among the public and experts.
