On December 11, heavy rains in the northwestern region of the Pacific Ocean caused floods in several states of the USA. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
As a result of this natural disaster, many roads were closed, railway lines stopped operating, and tens of thousands of people were evacuated to safe places. According to the US National Weather Service, Western Washington state became the main center of the floods.
The Cascade and Olympic Mountains, the Puget Sound area, and the northern part of Oregon state were also warned about the flood risk. The cause of the natural disaster was a strong storm system coming from the Pacific Ocean, known as an atmospheric river.
This storm caused heavy rains at the beginning of the week. It spread from northern Oregon through Washington state, Canada, British Columbia, western Montana, and northern Idaho.
As a result, large-scale floods occurred. A "Level 3 evacuation" was announced for about 100,000 residents in the western part of Washington state.
The evacuation was mainly carried out among the rural population living in Skagit County near the city of Seattle. Additionally, it was reported that heavy rains in Malaysia also caused floods, affecting more than 11,000 people.
