Criminals are suspected of stealing over 600 artifacts related to the history of the British Empire and the Commonwealth. This was reported by CNN.
The crime occurred on the morning of September 25. Law enforcement agencies have released photos of four individuals wanted in connection with the case to the public and asked for help in providing information about them.
Investigators emphasized that the stolen items hold significant cultural importance, with many of them being donations to the museum. Detective Constable Dan Burgan stated that this incident represents a considerable loss for the city of Bristol.
"These artifacts were part of an important collection that helped us understand the complex and multi-layered aspects of British history. We rely on the public's assistance and expect their support in finding the perpetrators," he said.
According to BBC reports, among the stolen items are military medals from the East India Company era, jewelry, carved figurines, and other decorative objects. This event once again highlights the urgent need to pay serious attention to the protection of cultural heritage.
